SFC Nutrition Month 2026 – Fuelling Future Football Champions

Selangor Football Club (SFC) Nutrition Month 2026 – Fuelling Future Football Champions

On 10 May 2026, the SFC community proved that dedication knows no days off. Despite the event falling on Mother’s Day, more than 50 parents—most of them mothers—traded a quiet brunch for the roar of the future champions. They joined 80 aspiring football players for the official kickoff of SFC Nutrition Month 2026: “Fuelling Future Football Champions,” a day dedicated to the science of nutrition for performance and winning.

Held from 7.30am to 12.00pm at the SFC Training Centre, the programme was organised by the Sports Nutrition Unit (SNU) of Selangor FC in conjunction with National Nutrition Month 2026. The event also marked a significant milestone—the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the SNU as part of Selangor FC’s sports science and high-performance support system in modern football.

The event was officially officiated by YB Datin Dr. Siti Rohana binti Saad, Head of the Public Health Development Unit (JKNS). In her opening remarks, she highlighted the significance of the day, praising the mothers in attendance for their pivotal role in nurturing the health and ambitions of the region’s future stars.

The “Mentaliti Juara” Carnival: Learning Through Play

The heart of the day was the interactive carnival, where players rotated through five specialised booths: Athletes’ Plate, Know Your Label, Nutri Tactic, Myths vs Facts, and Hydration. Each group brought its own energy and enthusiasm to learning about nutrition through play.

After a hard-fought circuit of points-based nutrition games, the Tomato Titans (Red) emerged victorious, followed closely by the Mighty Berries (Blue) in second place and the Banana Champions (Yellow) in third.

The Parents’ Corner

While the players were on their winning mission, the Parents’ Corner became a hub of appreciation and education. For many mothers present, the day was a unique way to celebrate Mother’s Day—gaining valuable tools to better fuel their children’s dreams.

The nutrition education session by Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Petaling (PKDP) emphasised the importance of identifying the “Healthier Choice” logo and reading food labels to avoid hidden sugars that can lead to energy crashes. Meanwhile, Yakult highlighted the critical gut–performance connection, explaining how a healthy microbiome helps prevent illness-related downtime and how probiotics require fibre from fruits and vegetables to truly thrive.

A Community Effort

The day concluded with a celebration of strong community support. Partners such as Fruits Society provided fresh fruit baskets, while Yakult and Milo ensured everyone stayed refreshed throughout the event. The lucky draw added a thrilling finale, with prizes from Decathlon Shah Alam and Kensington Camps & Club vouchers capping off a memorable Mother’s Day at the pitch.

As the closing remarks echoed across the venue, it was clear that “Fuelling Future Football Champions” succeeded not only in educating participants about nutrition, but also in celebrating the families who make the sport possible. The initiative reflects Selangor FC’s ongoing commitment to integrating science-based support systems into youth football development and creating a sustainable pathway for future football champions.

Special Appreciation

This event was organised as a free-to-attend programme for SFC Soccer Schools and SFC Academy players, supporting and fuelling the continuous dedication of our rising football stars. Behind the scenes, the event ran seamlessly thanks to the Sports Nutrition Unit and 32 student volunteers from MSU and UiTM. They did not just manage logistics—they also acted as mentors, guiding the young players through the day’s educational activities.

Special thanks to our sponsors: Red Giants Medical Centre, SFC Merchandise, Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Petaling, Yakult, Nutrition Society Malaysia, Kensington Sports and Clubs, Fruits Society, Nestlé Milo, Decathlon, and Etika.
